Last updated: July 2026

1. About PremiumDomains.ie

PremiumDomains.ie is an online marketplace for premium .ie domain names. It is a registered business name (RBN 671015) of Soma Marketing Ltd, a company registered in Ireland (CRO no. 523946), registered office The Mill (3rd Floor), Greenmount Avenue, Harold's Cross, Dublin 12, Ireland ("we", "us", "PremiumDomains.ie"). Domains are registered and transferred through the accredited .ie Registry, weare.ie (the .ie Domain Registry, also known as IEDR). We facilitate the sale, purchase, and lease of .ie domains on behalf of domain owners and buyers.

2. .ie Domain Eligibility — Connection to Ireland

The .ie domain extension is administered by the .ie Domain Registry (weare.ie). All .ie domain registrations require the registrant to demonstrate a valid connection to the island of Ireland. This is a mandatory eligibility requirement enforced by the Registry and applies to every transaction on PremiumDomains.ie, regardless of purchase method.

By purchasing, making an offer on, or entering a lease agreement for any domain on PremiumDomains.ie, you confirm that you meet the .ie eligibility criteria and agree to provide supporting documentation when requested.

2.6 Overseas Applicants

Overseas companies, partnerships, sole traders, and charities may register a .ie domain by providing:

  • Evidence of selling goods or services to consumers or businesses in Ireland (e.g., sales invoices)
  • Signed letter from a Solicitor, Accountant, Bank Manager, or Auditor confirming commercial activity with Ireland
  • Proof of commercial identity (company registration certificate, company number, or VAT number)

Non-resident individuals who are not Irish citizens and do not have an established connection to Ireland are not eligible to register a .ie domain name.

2.7 Document Submission

PremiumDomains.ie will request proof of connection to Ireland during the purchase or application process. Documents may be submitted as PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, JPG, or PNG (max 5 files, 5MB each). The domain transfer or registration cannot be completed until valid documentation has been received and verified by the .ie Registry. For full details, see weare.ie/document-requirements.

2.8 Registry Approval — Conditional Transfer Notice

In accordance with Section 19(b) of the .IE Registry's Registrant Terms and Conditions, we notify every prospective buyer in writing that: (i) any sale or transfer of the right to use a .ie domain is conditional on the proposed new registrant applying, via a registrar, for and being grantedthe right to use the domain under the Registry's Rules (including the Registration and Naming Policy); and (ii) there is a risk the Registry will not permit the registration if the proposed new registrant does not satisfy those requirements. If the Registry declines the transfer, the transaction is unwound and refunded as described in these terms.

3. Purchase Methods

PremiumDomains.ie offers three ways to acquire a domain:

  • Buy Now: Purchase at the listed price. How your payment is handled depends on who owns the domain. Domains owned by PremiumDomains.ie are paid for through secure checkout (Stripe); we send you the registrar authorisation (EPP) code and you complete the change of ownership at your own registrar, with transfer initiated within 1–3 business days of payment confirmation. Domains owned by third-party sellers are brokered, and your payment is held in escrow by Trustap — see Section 7. Either way, transfer is subject to verification of .ie eligibility (Section 2).
  • Make an Offer: Submit a negotiable offer. PremiumDomains.ie or the domain owner will respond within 24–48 hours. If accepted, payment and transfer proceed as per Buy Now.
  • Lease-to-Own: Spread the cost over 3–24 monthly payments at 0% interest. Lease-to-own is billed by monthly subscription rather than through escrow, and is available only on domains owned by PremiumDomains.ie. Full terms are set out in our Lease-to-Own Terms & Conditions.

4. Domain Transfer Process

Upon receipt of payment (or final lease instalment) and verification of .ie eligibility:

  • PremiumDomains.ie initiates a registrar transfer to the Buyer's nominated registrar within 3 business days.
  • The Buyer receives the domain auth code and transfer instructions by email.
  • Transfer fees charged by the Buyer's receiving registrar (if any) are the Buyer's responsibility.
  • If the Buyer does not have a .ie registrar account, PremiumDomains.ie can manage the domain on their behalf at no additional charge.

Transfers cannot be completed until the Buyer has provided valid proof of connection to Ireland as required by the .ie Registry. Failure to provide documentation within 30 days of purchase may result in the transaction being reversed and a refund issued (less any applicable transaction fees).

5. Pricing & Payment

  • All prices are listed in Euro (€) and are quoted exclusive of VAT. VAT may be added where applicable, depending on the buyer’s location and tax status (for example, Irish VAT for consumers in the Republic of Ireland, or EU reverse-charge for VAT-registered businesses).
  • Payments are processed securely via Stripe. PremiumDomains.ie does not store credit card details.
  • Prices are subject to change without notice. The price at the time of checkout or accepted offer is binding.

6. Refund Policy

Domain name sales are final. Due to the unique nature of domain names, refunds are not available once a domain transfer has been initiated. If a transfer cannot be completed due to failure to meet .ie eligibility requirements within 30 days, a refund will be issued less any applicable transaction fees. This does not affect statutory rights under Irish or EU consumer law.

Brokered domains — failed transfer fees: For brokered domains purchased via escrow, if you fund the purchase and the domain cannot be transferred into your name because you do not meet the .ie eligibility requirements (Section 2), the transaction is unwound and you will be refunded the domain price less (a) a PremiumDomains administration fee of €50 + VAT (where applicable), reflecting our genuine administrative costs, and (b) the escrow provider's non-refundable transaction fee. No brokerage commission is charged on an unwound transaction, and the seller bears no cost. You warrant your .ie eligibility when placing an offer; PremiumDomains does not verify it. Both fees are disclosed before you place an offer.

Consumer right of withdrawal: If you are a consumer in the EU, you normally have a 14-day right to cancel a distance purchase. Because a domain transfer is a digital service supplied immediately, by asking us to begin the transfer within that period you acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the transfer has started. This does not affect any other statutory rights you have under Irish or EU consumer law.

7. Brokered Domains

Some domains are owned by third-party sellers and sold through PremiumDomains.ie on a brokerage basis. PremiumDomains.ie acts as a disclosed agent for the seller: the seller supplies the domain to the buyer, and PremiumDomains.ie provides a brokerage service. Buyer and seller identities are kept confidential throughout the transaction, protected under GDPR.

Escrow: Brokered purchases are completed through a secure escrow service provided by Trustap (Trustap Ltd, Ireland). Your payment is held in escrow and released to the seller only after you confirm the domain has been transferred into your name. Payment capture and seller payout are processed on Trustap's regulated platform; all other steps take place on PremiumDomains.ie. The .ie ownership transfer itself is completed between the seller's and buyer's registrars — PremiumDomains.ie relays the authorisation (EPP) code once funds are secured in escrow.

8. Privacy & Data Protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and our Privacy Policy. Buyer information is used solely for transaction processing and is never disclosed to other parties except as required for payment processing (Stripe) and domain registration (weare.ie).

9. Limitation of Liability

PremiumDomains.ie's total liability shall not exceed the transaction value. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, business, or goodwill.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts. Nothing in these terms affects statutory rights under EU consumer protection legislation.
